The six day war was in 1967, from the 5th to 10th of june. The war was fought between Israel against Egypt, Syria and Jordan. Contries as Irak, Marokko, Algerie, Tunisia, Saudi-Arabia and Sudan helped against Israel. The war was short and intense. The Sinai Peninsula, Gaza and West Bank was occupied of the Israeli army. Egypt had a total of 180,000 armed menn. 50 000 of them were stationed in Yemen. The Israeli army had a total of 260 000 men and attacked first in the north along the coast. Via the UN had Eshkol sent a message to Jordan's King Hussein in which he warned against Jordan to join the war. Whether it was the king politically impossible to stand outside. Jordan joined the war and started firing artillery towards the western part of Jerusalem and air force attacks in Netanya, Israel. Jordan had destroyed his entire Air Force, 24 fighters. On the morning 6th of June, Israel had captured Jenin and parts of East Jerusalem. On 8 June outside the Sinai in international waters, USS Liberty attacked by Israel, 34 U.S. soldiers were killed and 170 wounded. The same day Jordan approved the resolution on cessation of hostilities and the evening 8 June made Egypt the same. At night, between 8 and 9 June saw the first Israeli forces until the Suez Canal. On 8 and 9 June bombed Israel the Syrian defensive positions on the Golan Heights. Israeli infantry stormed the hills and after heavy fighting left the Syrian forces to the east on the morning of 10 June. Golan was considered strategically important because the Syrians used the Heights to Israel shoot with artillery. By occupying the Golan to Israel secure its territory against attacks from Syria. After that the Golan was under Israeli control could thus Israel accept UN demands to halt the fighting. On 10 June at 4:30 p.m. did the war end.
